Flabby, Loose Skin… Is Endermologie the Answer?

by Lisa on January 12, 2011

I hear this question ALL the time.. ‘I’ve Recently Lost Weight, What Can I Do About Loose, Flabby Skin?’…

What happens when you gain a lot of weight or have children is the fat builds up around your trouble spots which causes your skin to stretch out in those places. But when you lose a significant amount of weight, you are likely to notice some looser-looking skin in those areas. Your skin is elastic, but once stretched out, it does not completely spring back into shape.

How readily your skin tightens up after a big weight loss, if at all, depends largely upon genetics, how long you were heavy, and your age (the younger you are, the better chance of no permanent bagging and sagging).

Women who have lost a significant amount of weight tell me that common trouble zones include an ‘apron’ around the waist, the sides and fronts of the knees, and the backs of the arms. Although the skins structure does not respond well to weight training, the muscles underneath these areas probably will to some extent. This is yet another reason why you should weight train as part of your weight loss efforts and continue even after you have reached your goal.

I almost never recommend cosmetic surgery, since it is such a deeply personal choice, but in the case of large amounts of excess skin, this MAY be an option worth considering. This is especially true if you’ve lost copious amounts of weight, as some of my clients have; often after such a dramatic weight loss, you can be left with a lot of excess skin. Most surgeons will not perform this type of operation until you have kept the weight off for at least a year. If you do decide to take this route, research carefully.

There is one other option you must check out first, Endermologie.

Endermologie, tightens and tones loose skin and reduces cellulite.

Before and after Endermologie treatments Before and after Endermologie treatments

Endermologie is both non-surgical and non-invasive. It involves the use of a motorized device with two adjustable rollers and controlled suction, which creates a skin-fold in the top surface layer of your skin. The skin gently folds and unfolds under the action of the rollers allowing for smooth and regulated deep tissue massage. Endermologie boosts blood flow and lymphatic drainage increases, helping the elimination of excess fluid, while improving overall cellular function.

These are some of the other health benefits you get from Endermologie treatments, it’s not all about aesthetics..

  • Improved circulation (up to 400%) through stimulation of muscle tissues meaning healthier tissues overall, as well as up to 300% improvement of lymphatic drainage.
  • Elimination of fatigue caused by waste products from muscles
  • Muscle relaxation
  • Pain reduction (through stimulation of endorphins to be released by the brain, which are natural pain killers
  • Improved joint mobility from the stretching of muscles through massage
  • Lower stress levels. Medical research has provided some evidence that massage can temporarily lower heart rate and blood pressure.Endermologie before and after

Endermologie is a Cellulite Reduction Treatment and is an effective and risk-free technique for contouring and reshaping the body. The skin is manipulated and it reconstructs the connective tissues. Endermologie stimulates blood and lymph circulation and eliminates toxins. The results are toned, firm skin and reduction of cellulite and loss of inches. A MUST try!
